Honour a Legend, and Help Keep The Story Going

Commemorate Robert Fife’s work

Robert Fife retires from his role as Ottawa Bureau Chief of The Globe and Mail in May 2026, but his legacy in Canadian journalism is lasting and incomparable.

Mr. Fife spent nearly five decades on Parliament Hill. He has dedicated his career to holding politicians accountable, having broken numerous stories of national consequence, and has received many accolades for doing so.

Mr. Fife is asking loyal readers, fellow journalists, and members of the public who are invested in preserving democracy and accountability through clear-eyed, independent journalism, to support the work of The Globe and Mail Foundation.

The Foundation’s mission is to protect and promote excellence in journalism. Through training programs for reporters and photojournalists, and public forums that focus on media’s role in democracy, The Globe and Mail Foundation is investing in a strong, civically engaged Canada.

Thank you for commemorating Mr. Fife for his long-standing commitment to the craft, and for honouring his legendary work. Your donation will help secure the future of excellence in journalism in Canada – a key tenet of a healthy democracy, never to be taken for granted.
