Nancy Shields
Nancy Shields is a British Columbia-based photographer, writer, and communications professional with a passion for telling stories through sport and community. With experience creating content across journalism, marketing, and communications, she specializes in capturing authentic moments that highlight connection, resilience, and the human side of athletics.
A lifelong athlete, Nancy is best known for her coverage of women’s sports, documenting everyone from grassroots athletes to professional leagues. Her work combines documentary style storytelling with a focus on emotion, inclusion, and the communities that make sport meaningful.
Nancy is working on a photo project about how women, girls and queer people are finding a sense of community and belonging through women's hockey. I'm interested in showing that hockey is more than just the game, it's about friendships, support and chosen family that people build around it.
